Rey del Inframundo
Rey del Inframundo is a tournament held by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre since 2017, during their annual Día de Muertos week of shows. The winner receives a championship belt, and - like classic Leyenda de Plata tournaments - defends it at the following year's event.
The Dia de Muertos events are consistently hosted by La Catrina (usually portrayed by former edecan Gaby Bau)[1] & Amotlamini, joined by a different Aztec god "guest" hosting each year. In 2014, it was the death god Mictlantecuhtli.[2] In 2015, it was the rain god Tlaloc.[3] And in 2016 (headlined by that year's Universal Tournament final), it was the mother goddess Coatlicue.[4]

2020
Sanson tested positive for Covid-19 shortly before Día de Muertos, so the title was vacated. A 10-man cibernetico was held on October 23, with the last two competitors fighting to crown a new champion in the final the following week.

2024
This year's tournament changed the format. Three challengers would be determined early in Día de Muertos week in 3 separate 8-man cibernetico matches, taking place in each of CMLL's routine stops: Mexico City, Puebla & Guadalajara. The champion would then defend his title against all 3 in an elimination 4-way on the Friday show.

2026
The prior year's formula was carried over exactly (albeit with a slightly different format for each qualifier).
October 26 - Puebla

This qualifier used 2026-CMLL's newfound chaotic approach to "ciberneticos", wherein every entrant starts brawling as soon as they get to the ring.

| Barboza | Calavera Jr. I | 14:39 | ||
| El Coyote | Rugido | 18:14 | ||

October 27 - Guadalajara
| Eliminated | Eliminator | Time | ||
| Bestia Negra | Fantastico | 8:11 | ||
| Adrenalina | Black Boy | 10:02 | ||
| Black Boy | Rafaga Jr. | 13:26 | ||
| Fantastico | Arlequin | 15:55 | ||
| Arlequin | Rafaga Jr. | 21:10 | ||
| Rafaga Jr. won the cibernetico | ||||
This qualifier seemed to be a sort of half-way point, with neither the team structure nor the immediate brawling. (Granted, it's hard to tell given the tape delay removing the entrances.)
Xelhua won the 4-way in 8:06 by tapping out Rafaga Jr. with his Cross of Remedies submission - in what turned out to be a single-fall match - to be crowned the new Rey del Inframundo.
2026 replaced Amotlamini with El Nahual.[14] As in 2018 & 2019, there were two guest hosts: lord of the underworld Mictlantecuhtli (for the third time) accompanied by his queen, goddess of the underworld Mictlancíhuatl[15] (portrayed by Tessa Blanchard).[16]
Copa Tzompantli De Mascaras
As of 2023, CMLL has routinely ended Día de Muertos week with a Tzompantli De Mascaras Sunday show, consisting exclusively of formerly-masked wrestlers who had either lost or relinquished their masks. The 2024 edition introduced the Copa Tzompantli to be contested on the undercard. It alternates between male & female competitors.

This was a single-fall amazonas cuadrangular, featuring Persephone, Princesa Sugehit, Reyna Isis & La Magnifica.
Persephone won in 10:23 by pinning Magnifica. She was especially rude to divine host Mictlancíhuatl upon being presented with the trophy, due to her feud with Blanchard.
Notes
- Rudos all tend to wear black skeleton-patterned shirts for the Día de Muertos shows, whilst tecnicos tend to wear especially vibrant gear. Likely as an intentional extension of the philosophical divide between the two styles.
- According to the art director, there are 6 "guardians" in total who are assigned with taking losing luchadors to the underworld.[17] Via the "Gates of Mictlán".
- Micros customarily dress up as what La Catrina calls "Cuicas" (possibly a play on "chiquatli"). In 2025, they were re-christened Naguals.
- 2026 gave them two nicknames - the "Pack of Mictlán" & "los celadores más traviesos" (the naughtiest wardens) - as well as individual names: Ceniza (ash), Disney (?), Braza (fathom) & Barro (mud).
- At some point, the Guadalajara events gained their own supernatural host; the folkloric Charro Negro.[18]
- The Calpulli Tlaloc dance troupe collaborated with CMLL for the 2026 event, having done so earlier that year for the Mitos en el Ring project. This presumably included the casting of the new male host, El Nahual.[19]
- since the 4-way format introduced in 2024 (possibly earlier), finalists from each region have been gifted artifacts by the godly hosts after winning their respective qualifiers.[20][21]
