Rey del Inframundo is a tournament held by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre since 2017, during their annual Día de Muertos week of shows. The winner receives a championship belt, and - like classic Leyenda de Plata tournaments - defends it at the following year's event.
The Dia de Muertos events are consistently hosted by La Catrina & Amotlamini, joined by a different Aztec god "guest" hosting each year. In 2014, it was the death god Mictlantecuhtli.[1] In 2015, it was the rain god Tlaloc.[2] And in 2016 (headlined by that year's Universal Tournament final), it was the mother goddess Coatlicue.[3]

Notes
- At some point, the Guadalajara events gained their own supernatural host; the folkloric Charro Negro.[13]
- Micros customarily dress up as what La Catrina calls "Cuicas" (possibly a play on "chiquatli"[14]). In 2025, they were re-christened Naguals.
- according to the art director, there are 6 "guardians" in total who are assigned with taking losing luchadors to the underworld.[15]
