Rey del Inframundo
Rey del Inframundo is a tournament held by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre since 2017, during their annual Día de Muertos week of shows. The winner receives a championship belt, and - like classic Leyenda de Plata tournaments - defends it at the following year's event.
The Dia de Muertos events are consistently hosted by La Catrina (usually portrayed by former edecan Gaby Bau until 2026)[1] & Amotlamini, joined by a different Aztec god "guest" hosting each year. In 2014, it was the death god Mictlantecuhtli.[1] In 2015, it was the rain god Tlaloc.[2] And in 2016 (headlined by that year's Universal Tournament final), it was the mother goddess Coatlicue.[3]

2026
The prior year's formula was carried over exactly (albeit with 2026-CMLL's newfound chaotic approach to "ciberneticos"). Probably. We'll know after Monday and this sentence'll get deleted either way but c'mon do you really expect them NOT to?

As of 2023, CMLL has routinely ended Día de Muertos week with a Tzompantli De Mascaras Sunday show, consisting exclusively of formerly-masked wrestlers who had either lost or relinquished their masks. The 2024 edition introduced the Copa Tzompantli to be contested on the undercard.

Notes
- At some point, the Guadalajara events gained their own supernatural host; the folkloric Charro Negro.[13]
- Micros customarily dress up as what La Catrina calls "Cuicas" (possibly a play on "chiquatli"[14]). In 2025, they were re-christened Naguals. Sometimes referred to as the "Pack of Mictlán".
- according to the art director, there are 6 "guardians" in total who are assigned with taking losing luchadors to the underworld.[15] Via the "Gates of Mictlán".
