Before becoming a wrestler, Negro Azteca had a background sport in soccer, bodybuilding, and weightlifting. His professional wrestling debut was on May 14, 1986 in a singles match against Furia Roja.
He earned the nickname of "El Asesino del Ring" after a match against Maleficio. He beaten Maleficio sending him to the hospital.
