El Hijo de Fishman is son of Mexican legend Fishman. Fishman introduced his son El Hijo de Fishman to news media on November 19, 2008 during the presentation of Mexican lucha libre blog "Cuadrilatero 6×6" in Xalapa, Veracruz. Fishman and El Hijo de Fishman were the honorary godparents of the blog. Finally, El Hijo de Fishman made his wrestling debut on November 22, 2008 at Centro Cultural Los Lagos of Xalapa, Veracruz.
Discovered a violent, bloody chemistry with Máscara Sagrada NG that lead them to tour a match around the indie scene together through the 2020s. Culminated tragically on October 6, 2026 at a show in Hidalgo's Deportivo 11 de Julio, when he caused the death of elderly referee El Buho after a Package Piledriver. Made worse by the rumour that he often works under the influence of alcohol or drugs.[1] Was nonetheless protected by the lucha libre community, including Hijo del Santo.[2][3]
Controversies
On February 19, 2022 during a wrestling show at Arena Coliseo Mexicali he injured the referee with a chair shot.[4] As a consequence, he was banned from Mexicali for a year by the Comission of Box, Lucha Libre, and MMA of Mexicali.[5].
On the night of October 6, 2026, during an independent wrestling show “Deslealtades” at the Centro Deportivo Cultural 11 de Julio (also referred to as Arena Vanguardia) in Mineral de la Reforma, Hidalgo, Hijo de Fishman competed against Máscara Sagrada NG. El Búho, a 75-year-old referee with decades of experience (including prior wrestling under the name El Búho Negro II), officiated the match.
Reports indicate that after Hijo de Fishman was disqualified and hence lost the match, he excecuted a martinete (package piledriver, to the referee. El Búho collapsed motionless on the mat; emergency responders could not revive him, and he was declared dead at the scene.Elpais
Municipal police detained Hijo de Fishman at the scene and turned him over to the Hidalgo Public Prosecutor’s Office. He was investigated for manslaughter. The promotion, El Patrón Espectáculos, offered legal support to the wrestler, and contacted the referee’s family while asking for restraint pending the investigation.
On October 9, 2026 (within the initial detention period), Hijo de Fishman was released after reaching reparatory agreement with El Búho’s family through restorative justice mechanisms under Mexico’s National Code of Criminal Procedures. His legal team (Magallán, Reyes y Asociados) confirmed that the criminal process concluded without advancing to a full trial or further prosecution. Reports indicate the agreement included a payment of approximately $586,000 Mexican Pesos (around $31,800–32,000 USD) as compensation for damages.
The promotion announced plans for a press conference to address the events and reduce speculation. Hijo de Fishman himself had not made extensive public statements immediately after release.
This case drew significant attention in Mexican and international wrestling media because of the use of a prohibited high-risk move on an elderly referee and the rapid resolution via a private settlement rather than a prolonged criminal trial.
