"Ruleta de la Muerte" (The Roulette of Death) also known as "Torneo de la Muerte" (The Tournament of Death) is a lucha-libre tournament where the losers advance to a final match where they must fight in a hair or mask match.
The tournament often features a pre-tournament battle royal to determine seeding. The concept dates back at least as far as 1975 UWA,[1] and is a regular attraction for IWRG.
Tournament Variations
The tournament can be open to singles or tag team wrestlers. It can feature any amount of participants, though typically there's no less than 4 wrestlers/teams and no more than 16 wrestlers/teams
Some tag team versions of the tournament may force the losing team in the final match to fight each other in a mask vs mask match, such as the 1982 Torneo Pentagonal de Parejas, where Dr. Wagner and Septiembre Negro met in a mask match.
