Mitos en el Ring ("Myths in the Ring") was a live entertainment project undertaken by media production company La Casa Murmura in-association with CMLL, designed to coincide with the 2026 FIFA World Cup games taking place in Mexico City during that summer. Every Thursday at 8pm from June 11 to July 30, Arena Mexico would host a 2-hour show re-enacting 4 mythological stories from Mexico's pre-Hispanic cultures. It included the tagline: "Aquí no se cuenta la historia. La historia se lucha" (“Here history is not told. History is fought”).


The project was conceived by La Casa Murmura director David Ferriera & CDMX-based investment manager Fernando Kuri in late 2025, and pitched to CMLL in January 2026, due to the companies' previous collaboration on Nuestra Lucha Libre. Moreso than capitalizing on the influx of sports tourists, the goal was to present pre-Hispanic stories to the native Mexican public in a way that would immerse them in their heritage; lucha libre was surmised to be the perfect medium. CMLL luchadors were employed to portray the characters in the stories, and "main event" stars were specifically avoided, so that they could fully embrace the roles with minimal pressure to act like their usual personas.


Each story was predominantly framed as a battle between the characters, with a video playing on the jumbotron before each to provide context. These videos also included English subtitles for foreign fans visiting for the World Cup. Halfway through the match card, there would additionally be an exhibition from the "Calpulli Tlaloc" dance troupe, directed by Atl Martínez.


The four myths performed were:

  • Nanahuatzin vs. Tecuciztécatl - Aztec myth

  • Mayahuel vs. Tzitzímitl - Aztec myth

    • (“The twin heroes of the Popol Vuh face the Lords of the Underworld in a battle of cunning, death, and resurrection.”)
  • Úcumu and Uárhiri vs. Apätzi and Siküame - Purépecha myth
    • (“Two forces from the underworld fight for control of the energy that sustains life and the balance of the world.”)
