Was gradually given responsibilities over CMLL by his father starting around the opening of Arena Mexico in 1956, taking full control somewhere in the 60s. & its arenas after his father's death. Wasn't really interested in the promoting of lucha libre, preferring to focus on the family's other business ventures, so passed off the duties to his nephew Paco Alonso by 1987. Briefly took power back in 2019 after Sofia Alonso had briefly been in control of the promotion following Paco Alonso's death, before passing it on to his son Salvador III.[1]

Was the second honouree at the 2025 Homenaje a Dos Leyendas event & a recipient of that year's Copa Bobby Bonales, as part of his 100th birthday.
