Escorpión II
For the purposes of this wiki, this is presumed to be the same person as Sexy Angel's maestro Escorpión 2.0.
The identity of Escorpión II - tag partner of Escorpión I in Los Escorpiones - is somewhat contested, and has been ascribed to at least 2 luchadors:
- Raúl Reyes was announced as Escorpión II upon his unmasking.[1] However, Reyes is listed as wrestling against Escorpión II multiple times both before & after his unmasking.
- Carnicero Grimaldo was named as Escorpion II by CMLL during a eulogy shortly after his death. However, this was the first mention of such a connection.
Possible explanations for the discrepancy include:
1. Both men portrayed Escorpión II at different times, and switched at some point (deemed unlikely)
2. The report of the unmasking is mistaken, possibly due to confusion over Reyes' other ringname of "Bufalo Reyes", which Grimaldo might have also used[2]
3. CMLL's eulogy was mistaken, possibly due to the conflation of two other characters he portrayed & masks he lost: "The Scorpio" & "Mr. Wrestling II"
4. There was another "Raúl Reyes" in wrestling at the time (possibly a Raúl Moritas Reyes, mistakenly conflated with Bufalo Reyes)
5. Something involving Escorpión I's brother Juan Ramírez Villalobos - AKA Escorpión III - who allegedly substituted for either member on occasion[3]
