Solar II fue un luchador profesional Mexicano que era frecuente en las carteleras de la Arena México en los años 80s, Donde ganó las Mascaras de Enfermero Jr. & Belcebu. Lamentablemente nunca pudo consolidarse en el Mundo de la Lucha Libre. Falleció el Domingo 23 de agosto del 2026.

Solar II (Pedro Buenrostro Torres, 67) passed away on Sunday. Solar II was getting out of lucha right as I was getting into it through this blog; he lost a hair match to Guerrero del Futuro in December 2002 and was never seen in a CMLL ring again. What I know of his career suggests EMLL was high him in his early days. He got title matches in the early 80s, and what was meant to be a big mask win in 1983. (Back to that in a sec.) Solar II’s career peaked with a 1988 NWA World Welterweight Championship win over Americo Rocca, when that title meant the holder was a top guy. EMLL seemed to decide otherwise after the reign ended to Fuerza Guerrera; he spent the rest of the 80s and 90s as an unremarkable midcard wrestler. He was done as the 00s started: he lost his mask in a cage match in June to Super Kendo, then his hair a few months later. His name popped up in a few small shows past that, but not much.

There are two oddities to Solar II’s career. One is that he is Solar I’s brother, but they weren’t closely associated most of their careers. Solar I bounced between promotions in ways that Solar II didn’t, and Solar I stuck as a bigger star when II didn’t. They did team when they were in the same promotion, but there were years that’d go by when they didn’t team. Solar II also didn’t seem to come up or get mentioned when Solar I had his reinvention as an old man maestro.

The other is the 1983 mask win. Solar II and Crucero I feuded in 1983 – it looks like it may have gone back to early in the year. It led to a big mask match on June 24, 1983, at a sold-out Arena México. Except, Crucero I just never shows up for his match. EMLL announced this mid-show, offering refunds and Enfermero Jr. as a replacement. Solar II won the mask match by faking a foul in the third fall. Enfermero was unmasked as Jamie Alvarez. EMLL would make it right for him by giving him the Jaque Mate mask in 1987. They couldn’t make it right for the fans, who were upset about the switch and everything associated with it; it’s written about as a black mark for EMLL at the time. Crucero I would never wrestle in EMLL again, though he did keep wrestling on indie shows for a few years.

CMLL did mention Solar II during Sunday’s show. Again, Solar II wasn’t the biggest star, and many ex-CMLL people aren’t acknowledged now a days. I’m glad they did it, just wish they’d do it more. Solar II was with CMLL for two decades, didn’t go elsewhere, and wrestled many of the wrestlers who have power, so maybe that was part of why they did it this time. Maybe it was just that the news broke the day of a show and so it was timely to mention him.
