Super Libre is a no disqualification match. To give the wrestlers complete freedom, the referee(s) for the match will traditionally stand outside the ring, leaning in under the bottom rope to count pinfalls or submissions.

Dates back to 1934 at the Old Arena Mexico, the first match billed as a Super Libre having taken place on either June 14, when Charro Aguayo defeated Jack Morgan, or July 6, when Tigre Morgan in-turn defeated Charro Aguayo.[1]
