Not to be confused with Los Regio Guapos, the Monterrey team that briefly held the Mexican National Atomicos Championship in 2001.
Guapos refers to a lucha faction which has operated in CMLL, AAA and among independent wrestlers. Members of the group consider themselves handsome ladies men (sometime very erroneously.)
The initial Guapos started teaming together in CMLL around 2001, and existed in various configurations there until Shocker's jump to AAA. The Guapos were reformed there 2005, and still a unit in AAA, though Shocker has since left the promotion.
There two current variations of the Guapos and one proposed version. Shocker has returned to CMLL and suggested restarting the group with wrestlers such as Toscano, Marco Corelone, Hector Garza and Maximo, but no offical group has been unveiled. The AAA group continues with El Guapito leading Escorpion Negro and Decnnis, and recent AAA departures Zumbido and Scorpio Jr. team as the Guapos on the indy scene.
When they were a CMLL group, the Guapos mentored a midcard group called Guapos U; those who were only part of Guapos U are not usually considered part of the group.
