History of Championship
This championship was derived from the original WWA World Tag Team Championship (no direct relation to the Tijuana one). The WWA World Tag Team Championship was changed into the NWA Americas Tag Team Championship when WWA was absorbed into the NWA. It was primarily defended in and around Los Angeles. The championship began in 1969 and was abandoned in 1982 when the promotion closed.
