Reigning CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Hector Garza quit CMLL in November 2011. Garza gave the physical belt back to the promotion, who avoided mentioning the situation for a month.
CMLL later announced a cibernetico on Christmas Day to fill the vacancy. The cibernetico turned out to only determine the final two for a decision match the following week.
The cibernetico included
- tecnicos: Rush, Marco Corleone, Super Porky, Hijo del Fantasma, Metro
- rudos: Terrible, Mr. Niebla, Mr. Águila, Rey Bucanero, Olímpico
order of elimination:
- Olimpico (by Metro)

- Mr. Aguila (by Brazo de Oro)
- Metro (by Mr. Niebla)
- Brazo de Plata (by Terrible)
- Rey Bucanero (by Rush)
- Mr. Niebla (by Marco Corleone)
- Marco Corleone (by Terrible)
Rush and Terrible will meet for the title on January 1, 2012.
