Profile

Halcon '78 was born on July 28th, 1957. He was trained by Johnny James, Anibal and Felipe Ham Lee and debuted in 1977.

His Halcon '78 name came from the magazine, "El Halcon", which was one of the major wrestling magazines in Mexico in the 70's and 80's. When El Halcon lost his mask to Mil Mascaras in 1977, the magazine was unhappy as they still wanted a masked wrestler to be their mascot. This led to the creation of Halcon 78. The "78" on his name signifies the year he started wrestling in Mexico City and helped differentiate between him and El Halcon, though he kept a very similar look. To make matters more confusing, he would often team with El Halcon and later would team with Falcon, who also copied the look and gimmick.

Halcon '78 was a success from the start, winning the hair of Astro Rey and teaming with Solar to win the masks of Comando I and Comando II on August 3rd, 1980. He and Falcon captured the Mexican National Tag Team Championship together at some point and held the title at least through 1981. The pair later went on to win the masks of Las Fieras I and II at an unknown date.

He went on to win multiple apuestas matches in the 1980's, defeating Dr. Muerte, El Perverso, Renato Torres and Convoy. He also captured the Mexican National Light Heavyweight Championship on October 16th, 1986 and held onto the belt until Pierroth Jr. defeated him for it on April 4th, 1988.

He was a regular with the UWA and the independent scene, often paired with or against Falcon. The pair met in a mask vs 5 million pesos match in 1991. He joined AAA in 1994 and became El Mexicano. He was paired with El Charro and El Mariachi to form "Los Folkloricos" in a midcard role. The team wore traditional Mexican charro/horseman outfits with sombrero's. After the team finished, he continued on with AAA into the 2000's, often in midcard or lower card roles.
