			A few hours ago, Adolfo “El Pirata” Moreno, former wrestler and founder of [[Arena Naucalpan]], passed away. Moreno, one of the most fearless wrestlers of the late 1950s, transitioned from wrestling (which he combined with firefighting) to promoting wrestling after taking over the [[Lienzo Charro]] in [[Tlalnepantla]]. In 1962, he built his own arena, [[Arena KO Al Gusto\|KO Algusto]], which was demolished in 1977 to make way for the current Arena Naucalpan. His arenas were the training ground for many of the biggest stars of the 1980s and 1990s, such as [[Los Villanos]] and the [[Casas Family\|Casas brothers]]. Arena Naucalpan has its 30th anniversary show scheduled for this Thursday.

			In 1996, El Pirata Moreno and his sons, along with other promoters (such as [[Juan Herrera]] and [[Último Dragón]]), formed the [[International Wrestling Revolution Group]], an organization created to govern its own championships. The acronym IWRG has identified the company ever since, and many mistakenly see that year as its beginning, ignoring its decades-long history.

			In recent years, the work of promoting and managing the arena fell to El Pirata's sons: [[Marco Moreno\|Marco]], [[César Moreno\|César]], and [[Jorge Moreno\|Jorge]], while the veteran wrestler would come to supervise and watch the matches, aided by his cane. A few weeks ago, [[Israel Velázquez]] told me that he had seen Don Adolfo looking very frail, more worn out. Last Saturday we learned that he was hospitalized, and today we learned that he had passed away.

			The Super Luchas team sends its condolences to the Moreno family and prays for the repose of Don Adolfo “El Pirata” Moreno.
