The initial [[Los Guapos]] started teaming together in [[CMLL]] around 2001, and existed in various configurations there until [[Shocker]]'s jump to [[AAA]]. The Guapos were reformed there 2005 as Los Guapos VIP with fellow jumps to AAA including [[Alan Stone]], [[Zumbido]] and [[Scorpio Jr.]], as well as a rudo referee in [[Piero]]. [[Estrella Dorada Jr.]] was rumored as a possible member, but left AAA before anything came of it.

Shocker jumped back to CMLL in early [[2006]] and eventually maked his own variation of Los Guapos called [[High Society]]. He's replaced in the group by [[Hator]], but [[Scorpio Jr.]] takes over as the leader of the group. Another former member Los Guapos member [[Emilio Charles Jr.]], wrestling for CMLL at the time, was rumored as a possible addition but like Dorada Jr, nothing came of it. [[Chris Stone]] then attempted to help the group as a masked man late in 2006, nut usually failed. He was however offered membership when his mask was yanked and Alan realizes it's his brother.

In [[2007]], the [[Guapos]] hype a new leader, the true boss of the group. It's revealed to be [[Guapito]], a mascot/mini with dyed blond hair who wears suits. They immediately start a feud with [[Alebrije]] and [[Cuije]]. During this stretch, Scorpio, Zumbido and Alan are the primary trio. Chris Stone and Hator are used much less often, and mainly for the [[AAA World Tag Team Tournament, 2006|2006 tournament to determine AAA's First World Tag Team Champions]]. After the tournament, Hator was phased out and seemingly being quietly dropped along the way. Piero remained a rudo referee but wasn't closely associated with the group as he use to be.

After [[Super Calo]] dropped his mask at TripleMania, he was revealed as the third Stone brother and was added to the group. This set up lasted just weeks before Scorpio, Guaptio and Zumbido turned on the Stone brothers. Alan, Chris and Super Calo formed their own trio as [[Los Bello Stones]], and the Guapos introduced a new member to feud with them. The former [[Decnnis|Barrio Boy Decnnis]] joined to round out the trio (and quietly end the existence of his former group [[Barrio Boys|Los Baririo Boys]].) This set up would continue even after the feud with Bello Stones ended and into mid 2008.

In the summer of [[2008]], just as the group brought in [[El Brazo]] to feud with his brother [[Super Porky]], the current members all were rumored to be leaving AAA in a pay dispute. [[Decnnis]], [[Scorpio]] and [[Guapito]] appeared at an [[IWRG]] show, with Zumbido promised to come. Decnnis quickly changed his mind and returned to AAA. Feeling he'd committed to the date, Guapito worked the following week's IWRG show without telling anyone (especially Scorpio) that he was planning to return to AAA the next day. Zumbido, the only one who didn't show at the first appearance, ended up joining Scorpio as the only true departures.

After Decnnis and Guapito returned to AAA, Scorpio claimed in the press that the only ones allowed to run Guapos factions were the surviving members of the original group, himself and [[Shocker]]. AAA never directly responded to this claim, but El Brazo has suggested in interviews that the group be called the Metrosexuals instead, however AAA did not get the memo and still called the group Guapos VIP. Zumbido and Scorpio continued teaming as the Guapos on independent shows typically with [[El Dandy]] as their third in trios and has become an unofficial member. Meanwhile, [[Pirata Morgan]] filled in as a partner to Decnnis and Brazo on AAA television shows, though he was never even implied to be a member of the group. Nuevo Laredo wrestler [[Escorpion Negro]], who had been working openers and dark matches, debuted as the third member of the AAA group in August of [[2008]]. The focus of the group has been switched to El Brazo, due to his feud with Super Porky.

In December of 2008, Guapito and El Brazo were the last ones left in a cage match with [[Electroshock]], [[El Elegido]], Pirata Morgan, [[Super Fly]] and Super Porky. Brazo turned on Guapito to save his hair, but Guapito was still able to escape first with some help from Elegido. Since this match, Guapito has still been with Los Guapos, but frequently costing them matches and seems headed to the tecnico side.

[[Decnnis]] & [[El Brazo]] disappeared from TV for many months. In the meantime, Guapito first tried to buy a partnership with Elegido, but the tecnico did not want anything to do with him. Guaptio then went into business for himself, forming the '''Los Chihuahuas''' ([[Los Perros del Mal|parody]]) promotion for mini wrestlers. While that idea was eventually dropped, it led to Guapito offering to promote Decnnis & El Brazo again, since he was succeeding with out him. El Brazo was still angry about his hair match loss, but eventually all three men made peace. They were back together, though very little on TV.

At the 2009 [[Heroes en Inmortales]] show, Decnnis worked as a tecnico. There was no particular explanation of his change. Guapito continues to manage him and El Brazo continues to be a rudo, so it appears as though the Guapos VIP group is done for now.

== Biography ==

[[Dr. Wagner Jr.]] is the top tecnico not wearing a silver mask in [[CMLL]]. He's a young legend to the fans, a wrestler with international experience (and success!) and capable of a great match when he wants one. Dr. Wagner is one of the most popular wrestlers in Mexico, and an iconic figure.

Wagner turned tecnico following the death of [[Dr. Wagner|his father.]] The change was fan inspired; Wagner was in a four way mask match on the first [[Arena Mexico]] show after his father's passing, and the fans did not want him to lose his mask that night under any circumstances. Wagner did not lose his mask, and the crowd clung to him after that moment. Wagner and the promotion tried to go back to the status quo after, but the fans cheered him enough to make a change.

Dr. Wagner becoming a tecnico had ripple affects across the promotion. Since he was feuding with [[Canek]], Canek had to turn rudo to continue it. Later, in [[2005]], the fans loudly picked Wagner over [[Atlantis]] when they were setting up a mask versus mask match, to the point where Atlantis was tainted as a tecnico (and had to be turned rudo) and Wagner had become so popular, the match couldn't be done at a profit to all sides.

Even though the mask match never took place, Atlantis and Wagner continue to be rivals, with the idea all sides might one day do the match in a different arena where the money works out better. (The feud with Canek has slipped to the wayside.)

More pressing for Dr. Wagner at the moment is a feud with another recently turned tecnico, [[LA Park]]. As with Atlantis, the crowd turned on LA Park with no prompting, and he responded in kind. Wagner stuck up for the people of "his house", and he and Park have had violent brawls in the weeks since. A Park/Wagner mask match would seem to have the same financial issues as the Atlantis one, but that's the way they seem to be heading.

Wagner often teams with [[Mistico]], as a big brother/protector to the smaller wrestler. He'll also team with his newly unmasked brother, [[Silver King]], who has been wrestling in some locales as Dr. Wagner Jr. II or el Hermano de Dr. Wagner Jr. Wagner has shown himself capable of wrestling Japanese junior and lucha technical styles, but his current feuds and positioning has resulted in him primary working as a brawler with hot comeback moves.

Dr. Wagner Jr. still potentially has many years left in his career. However, he's often said to have saved well from his career and could retire early. It's believed he was going to lose his mask to Atlantis when that match was originally scheduled, which could have been the one last big payoff of his career. Instead, it seems like he's going to hang around for a while longer.

2009

Dr. Wagner Jr. has since jumped ship to rival AAA promotion. Wagner main evented AAA's Triplemania event facing [[El Mesias]] for the Mega-Campeonato, AAA's version of the World Heavyweight Championship. Wagner won the match and has defended the title successfully against El Mesias and also headlining the Verano De Escandalo event facing El Mesias and [[Cibernetico]] in a cage. He was successful in the title defense.

Wagner has also formed a stable called [[Wagner Maniacos|Los Wagnermaniacos]], featuring his real life brother, [[Silver King]], [[Electroshock]], and El [[Ultimo Gladiador]].

== Notes ==

Has had a couple different runs in Mexico. Originally worked with CMLL in 2003 as part of the [[Havana Pitbulls]], and got over strong enough that CMLL created a title for himself and the rest of the Pitbulls to fight for, the [[CMLL World Super Lightweight Championship]]. Had a back and forth title feud with [[Virus]] which left Romero with the title to close the 2004 season. CMLL didn't bring him back in 2005, and didn't bring him back for a few years after that. The title was seemingly forgotten by CMLL, and only turning up on occasional Southern California shows (including a back and forth title switch.)

CMLL brought Romero back four years later as the masked tecnico '''Black Shadow''', though many were quick to realize who was under the mask. CMLL appeared to have big plans for him at first, teaming him with [[Mistico]] and having him work against top rudos, but also seemed to give up on him rather quickly, after a couple months in, after poor response to his performance. Shadow continued to work around the semimain level, but not on the major shows. He feuded with Sangre Azteca, but no resolution seemed on the horizon.

Stuck in limbo, Romero became the first in a series of jumps from CMLL to AAA. Shadow allied with [[X-Pac]] to start the [[D-Generation-MEX]] group, and unmasked himself in his debut to reveal himself as Rocky Romero. Romero's established himself at about the same level he was in CMLL while teaming with X-Pac and [[Alex Koslov]]. He's also been working on [[NJPW]] tours early during his AAA stint, which has caused him to disappear for long stretches in Mexico.

In October of 2008, [[Perro Aguayo Jr.]] left CMLL to form his own promotion focusing on independent talent. The promotion, using the same name of his '''Perros del Mal''' faction, debuted on [[December 7]]th in [[Mexico City]]. The show was taped for television, but no broadcast date/location or future show in this location was announced. The promotion appears to be planning to run similar shows around the country.

Among the aims for the promotion is to create a home for independent wrestlers, allowing them come and go freely. The exact talent roster is not stable between shows as a result of that freedom; everyone who is there is there for that day. [[Perro Aguayo Jr.]] and the rest of Los Perros are expected to continue be the tent pole, with various independent names being brought in based on availability and interest.

Other goals of this promotion including modernizing lucha libre (moving away from CMLL's presentation and towards something more like the US promotions), allowing the fans to interact more with the luchadors, and lowering ticket prices so more fans would have access to the biggest matches.

Perros del Mal is a true independent promotion. Wrestlers are not bound to the promotion and are free to work wherever they want, so the idea of a 'current' roster is not as clean; there's only information about who worked the previous shows and are expected to continue working the next shows. Still, over the course of the early shows, a regular group of wrestlers have emerged:

== Connections With Other Promotions ==

Besides the shows promoted in Mexico City as Perros del Mal shows, this group of luchadors also are apparently available to other independent promoters for their own shows, much the same as CMLL and AAA uses their talent on spot shows. The difference is the local promoter usually gets all of the normal roster, so the non-offical Perros del Mal main events look a like the offical ones.

=== CMLL ===

This promotion was originally designed to be a companion to CMLL; Perro would still run the shows and himself stay out of CMLL for some time, but CMLL would allow their talent to work Perro's shows as a partner, and Perro would be free to present a different presentation of lucha libre at discounted ticket prices. Before this deal was officially announced, CMLL and Perro has a falling out, CMLL withdrew their talent, and Perro decided to continue his plans without them. In response, CMLL counted the debut show with a loaded [[Arena Mexico]] show of their own, at discounted ticket prices.

CMLL talked about their own show as just something extra for the fans, but also scheduled a large show for the following weekend in [[Guadalajara]], an unusual event. That show ran against a lucha libre festival which had [[Perro Aguayo Jr.]] in the main event, making it clear CMLL is anxious to make things to tough for Perro for leaving them.

=== AAA ===

[[Cibernetico]] left AAA to join this group, announcing it by putting on a Perros del Mal t-shirt before making his exit at his final AAA television taping. This departure was intertwined with Cibernetico's character declaring he wanted no part of AAA after Konnan took control of it (in storyline). Given the timing and how the jump matches up with the storyline, many observers believe Cibernetico's presence in this promotion is simply an extension of the storyline and Cibernetico is still an AAA wrestler. Both Cibernetico and AAA completely deny they are still working together.

On [[December 25|Christmas]], [[2008]], [[Damian 666]] worked an AAA non-televised show in [[Tijuana]] as a replacement for [[Rellik]]. Though AAA has hinted at more, the Perros say no deal with AAA is coming, preferring their own independence.

New Wrestling Evolution has announced plans to run it's first show in Mexico in 2008. The advertised names include most of the names of the group, so there's obviously some plans of co-promotion.
