After a short & uneventful career, he called it quits in late [[2010]]/early [[2011]]. His father, [[Rey Misterio]] spent little time before replacing him with a new [[Hijo de Rey Misterio (II)|Hijo de Rey Misterio]]. Returned as the original Hijo in late 2011 as a rudo and feuded with his replacement, with the tease of a name vs name battle. The feud seems to be dropped. Hijo returned to his role as a clone of his older cousin by redubbing himself "Nuevo" Rey Misterio Jr., with the Nuevo part noted as silently as possible.

== Biography ==


Ken Timbs debuted in Mexico on May of 1988, with the name Fabuloso Blondy, an offshot of the Fabulous Blondes tag team name he'd used in several parts of the United States. During that first run, he right away got in a rivalry with Lizmark, which would turn out to be his biggest singles feud in the country.

On June 24, 1988 Blondy defeated Lizmark for the NWA World Light Heavyweight Title, which, until the emergence of the UWA World Heavyweight Title in the late 70s, had been the highest ranked World belt in the country.

Timbs came off with an initial strong push and was well received by the crowd, as he was such an easy to hate rudo. He'd come to the ring waving the U.S. flag or wearing it as a cape, with bleached blond hair, and sometimes wearing facepaint, and when Antonio Peña pushed using entrance music, he came down to "Born in the USA". While there's varying opinions whether that song is anti-USA or not, most Mexicans did not understand anything but the chorus, so it was just a perfect theme for him. And then, he'd grab the mic and sing "Star Spangled Banner" before the matches, which would get him major heel heat. His nickname was "El Gringo Loco", which was a Peña idea.

The "American heel" character was also important historically because its success paved the way for Konnan, Eddy Guerrero and Love Machine's fabulous run as "Los Gringos Locos" in AAA. It was actually heavily rumoured that he'd join them in AAA, and that Peña really wanted him in, but couldn't because of some sort of visa problem. Just being a blond and/or big American looking heel you'll need to be escorted out of the building by the police, no matter how charismatic you are or aren't, but the difference is that the great heels, like Timbs, Machine or Jake Roberts, got way more mileage out of the gimmick than anybody else.

Blondy adapted his style well and quickly to lucha libre, and even though his biggest strength, by far, was his charisma, he was a capable performer and a very good bumper, as shown by his stuff with Lizmark. Whenever Blondy was asked who his greatest oponents ever were, Mexico or not, Lizmark's name was always on top of the lists.

Lizmark regained the NWA World Light Heavyweight crown on December 9, 1988 at Arena Mexico, but that same month, in another of his first big feuds, he won Popitekus' hair at Arena México with help of heel referee Gran Davis.

Soon after that he left, returning on March of 1989 in a trio called "La Locomotora Gringa" with Mikey Stone and Rick Patterson (second version of Leatherface). They had a feud with Los Infernales (Satánico, MS-1 and Masakre) with a trios hair vs. hair match on March 31 at Arena México, where Stone lost his hair after being pinned by Satánico. Blondy would get revenge on April 7, taking Satánico's hair in a singles match, which is considered one of his major career wins in Mexican land.

Around this time, Timbs also formed a team with a masked man called American Destroyer (1989), and with the Policia de Los Angeles (1990 - they were The Power Twins, Larry and David, wearing LAPD shirts and bringing a helmet and a nightstick to the ring). The Timbs/LA Police trio got a big TV push on March 1990, culminating in a very rare match at Arena México against Mil Máscaras, Dos Caras and Sicodélico.

He also feuded with Pirata Morgan around the NWA Light Heavyweight Title. After a failed challenge on December 8, 1989, he defeated him on Febuary 14, 1990 at Arena Mexico. Now he was just a mere transitional champ, as on March 21 he dropped the belt to Lizmark at the Arena Coliseo on the tecnico's hometown in Acapulco.

Him losing his hair to Ringo Mendoza on December 7, was a sign that his run had probably run its course, even though he was brought back later to feud with Los Brazos, even taking El Brazo's hair on February 12, 1993. In between that time span he competed in Carlos Elizondo's FILL promotion, running out of the Plaza de Toros Monumental in Monterrey. Elizondo ensembled a good roster using national stars, local talent and foreign imports, and would have weekly hot and large crowds. Timbs' gimmick was way over again in a fresher environment, and he had a run was FILL Light Heavyweight champion, feuding with very young Latin Lover and Héctor Garza over the belt. In Monterrey he also reformed his team with Rick Patterson, who now had a Canadian Mountie gimmick.

Timbs worked in Mexico until mid 1993, and then disappeared until having a couple more matches in 1998 when he was used by OCESA in the "Guerra de Naciones" (War between nations) PPV, teaming with the Head Hunters and Solomon Grundy to lose to Tinieblas Jr., Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Cien Caras and Pierroth Jr. in a cage match. In that PPV he showed up much larger, and with less mobility due to his injured knees.

The last time his name popped up in the Mexican scene was in 2000, when the GWAS failure announced he'd be working for them. The thing is, GWAS announced tons of foreigners would be coming to their shows, only the foreigners themselves didn't even know about it.

Made his pro-wrestling debut on August 11, 2000, teaming with his father Dos Caras to defeat El Azteca and Chiba, in an event promoted by the Japanese independent promotion KAGEKI PRO WRESTLING. This card was held in Shimonoseki and reports said that the junior looked very good for a rookie.

Before turning pro, Caras Jr. was a member of the Mexican national team in Greco-Roman wrestling for five years, and he placed third at the World Junior Championships in 1997 (held in Czech Republic), won the Central-American games three times and also won a medal at the Pan-Am games. He was looking forward to compete in the Sydney 2000 Olympics, but due to lack of support, politics and government problems Mexico could not send any representatives to the Olympic wrestling competition so he turned pro instead.

Made his AAA debut on [[September 4|9/4]] when he ran-in during a match involving his father, that was getting beat up by Texano, Pirata Morgan and Espectro Jr., but his first actual match with AAA was on [[September 29]], 2000, in AAA's "Verano de Escándalo" supershow. He teamed with Alebrije, Sangre Chicana and La Parka Jr. to beat "Los Consagrados" (Pirata Morgan, Espectro Jr., El Texano and El Cobarde).

During his first months he has feuded with the veteran stable of "Los Consagrados" and on January 21, 2001, he failed (teaming with his father) to conquer Texano and Pirata Morgan's National Tag Team Titles.

There's no doubt that Dos Caras Jr. is one of the real stars of the future. He's got size, name value, charisma and it looks like he's going to develop into an excellent wrestler.

Dos Caras Jr. has been pushed as a top heavyweight tecnico since joining [[CMLL]], but he lacks a notable feud at the moment. He's had mini feuds with [[Ultimo Guerrero]], [[Universo 2000]] and [[Kenzo Suzuki]], formed a team with [[Lizmark Jr.]], and done some work as a trio with [[Dr. Wagner Jr.]] and [[Mistico]], but really hasn't had a monumental feud.

Dos is always on the side of good, and pushed as an agile guy for his size. Dos has also done some MMA fighting - sometimes with his mask and sometimes without - and he's incorporated submissions to his fighting style. He's still an unfinished guy in the ring, but he's likely the best of guys in CMLL his size and his age.

Dos Caras Jr. turned heel shocking many in CMLL. Briefly feuding with Shocker. Caras then signed on with the WWE, he has yet to appear in WWE television but is believed to currently be working with the FCW promotion, a developmental territory for the WWE.

== History of Championship ==
The NWA World Welterweight Championship is nominally a Mexico based championship, having actually been created before the formation of the NWA (and EMLL joining the NWA.)

The championship appeared to be forgotten after it was vacated in 1992. In 1995, it was filled, but soon changed hands multiple times in Japan, en route to becoming part of the J-Crown Octuple Junior Championship. After the J-Crown broke up, the championship ended up as a possession of various Ultimo Dragon promotions and off-shoots. It was widely reported Dragon purchased the [[NWA World Middleweight Championship]] from CMLL around this period, so the same may be true with this title.

* the original, and the man with apparent legal ownership of the name is [[Máscara Sagrada]]. The Sagrada gimmick started in [[AAA]] and was created by [[Antonio Pena]] who battled over the name with him in court. While the case was being decided, Sagrada was forced to work as '''Mascara Sacra'''. After he won the legal battle, Sagrada appeared in [[CMLL]] for a while, but now is mostly an independent wrestler. He's the biggest of the Sagrada's, in fame and in size.
* After the original left AAA, the promotion acted as usual, and put many new wrestlers under the old costume. There's probably quite a few who were under the mask for a short time, and the ones we know for sure are:
** [[Cachorro Mendoza]] was officially the first guy to take on the Mascara Sagrada gimmick but he didn't last long.

A wrestler originally from Monterrey, who's always been known for a showy style, muscular body and women fans.

Oziel Toscano started out in Monterrey, and worked his way thru small groups until he joined [[Promo Azteca]], the first major company to use him. It was with this group where he was given the Tarzan Boy name he's used for most of his career. He also worked as Zorro for a short stint, just as the eventually [[Zorro|AAA wrestler]] had adopted the same name. Tarzan's success and increased visibility in Promo Azteca improved his standing in Monterrey and he was soon beating the likes of [[Andy Barrow]], [[Pirata Morgan]] and [[Pimpinela Escarlata]].

Tarzan Boy caught the attention of [[CMLL]]. Tarzan joined the power company and was quickly put in stellar matches, wrestling with or agianst [[Emilio Charles Jr.]], [[El Hijo del Santo]], [[Negro Casas]], [[Shocker]], [[Mr. Niebla]]. He feuded with [[Satanico]], beating him in [[Arena Mexico]] on [[February 25]], [[2000]] in a hair/hair match. That win cemented Tarzan's place among the stars of CMLL (and in the heart of the female fans.) Tarzan beat Satanico again in a rematch at [[Arena Puebla]] later that year for their anniversary show.

Female fans liked Tarzan Boy, and perhaps that's one of the male fans did not. Booing from the crowd caused Tarzan Boy to change sides, and he found more popularity as a rudo. Tarzan joined with [[Ultimo Guerrero]] and [[Rey Bucanero]] to form [[Los Guerreros del Infierno]], who became known for their teamwork and effectiveness and considered the best team in CMLL for many years. Individually, Tarzan Boy beat [[Black Warrior]] for the [[NWA World Light Heavyweight Championship]].

Tarzan also had a run of being in a main match at [[CMLL Anniversary Show Results|CMLL's Anniversary Show]] for three years in a row. In 2001, he was part of the cage match where [[Satanico]] took [[Mascara Magica]]'s mask. In 2002, Tarzan took [[Negro Casas]]'s hair, but lost his own his hair to [[Shocker]] in 2003.

On the 2004 [[Juicio Final]] show, [[Perro Aguayo Jr.]] introduced the new rudo unit [[Perros del Mal]]. [[Hector Garza]] returned to the CMLL to join the group, and [[Terrible]] was next to join. Both are originally from [[Monterrey]], so Tarzan teamed with them as Los Regios and obtained the [[CMLL World Trios Championship]]. At the time, the Perros del Mal and Los Regios were closely associated with each other, while Tarzan's Guerrero partners were feuding with Los Perros del Mal. Tarzan eventually left Los Regios to rejoin the Guerreros full time, feuding with his Hector Garza, Damian 666, Mr. Aguila. Tarzan and Rey Bucanero beat the last two in a [[Arena Mexico]] hair match.

In 2006, Tarzan won the CMLL World Trios Championship again, this time with [[Atlantis]] and [[Ultimo Guerrero]] as the [[Guerreros del Atlantida]], defeating Los Perros to take the vacant titles. However, the lost the same titles to a different group of Perros later that year. Tarzan suffered an injury during the match, one of many during his career which has caused him to much time.

Tarzan was one of the Mexican wrestlers who worked for the WWF's Super Astros, using the name as Armando Fernandez. He's wrestled in Japan, United States, Puerto Rico, Panama and all over Mexico. It's most bloody rivals are [[Shocker]], [[Vampiro]], [[Hector Garza]], [[Negro Casas]], [[Atlantis]] and [[Tarzan Boy]]

Tarzan changed his ring name to Toscano in June of 2007. He's currently one of the top wrestlers in CMLL and should be for some time.

Luchador originario de Monterrey que a lo largo de su carrera se ha caracterizado por tener un personaje de estilo llamativo para las Mujeres, con cuerpo torneado y bien trabajado en el gimnasio.

Iniciando su carrera en su natal Monterrey pronto emigro poco a poco a empresas que le permitieron llegar a Promo Azteca, la primera de las empresas de renombre en darle oportunidad en sus filas. Ya dentro Promo Azteca adopta el personaje de Tarzan Boy con el que ha funcionado mas en el medio luchistico, también por una temporada corta porto el Antifaz del Zorro primer luchador en portar este personaje. En este tiempo en Monterrey rapa a hombres de peso en la Lucha Libre como Pirata Morgan, Pimpinela Escarlata y Andy Barrow por mencionar algunos de ellos.

Poco tiempo después llamo la atención del CMLL empresa poderosa de Lucha en México que lo lleva a sus filas y por su estilo pronto se coloca en los eventos estelares rozándose con Luchadores de renombre como Emilio Charles Jr, Hijo del Santo, Negro Casas, Mr. Niebla, Shocker y Satánico, con este ultimo se enredo en una muy poderosa rivalidad que los llevo a un duelo de apuestas en la Arena México dando como resultado el triunfo del Técnico consentido de las damas sobre el Diablo Mayor, ese triunfo fue el que consolido a Tarzan Boy en los planes estelares dentro del CMLL y siendo considerado en los planes importantes del CMLL. Satánico furioso por su derrota reta una revancha que séle concede pero de nuevo pierde a manos de Tarzan solo que ahora en la Arena Puebla conmemorando el Aniversario de este local.

A inicios del 2001 tras los abucheos generalizados de los aficionados por el estilo de Tarzan Boy opta por cambiar de Bando y sube su popularidad de rudo. Junto Ultimo Guerrero y Rey Bucanero forman una de las tercias mas poderosas y acopladas del Medio llamados Los Guerreros del Infierno, era una tercia muy fuerte que se combinaban de manera precisa y muy efectiva en sus castigos, durante varios años en el CMLL fueron considerado el mejor equipo. Para esa época Tarzan Boy portaba el cetro Mundial NWA Semicompleto que le ganara a Black Warrior.
Durante tres años consecutivos Tarzan Boy liderea las funciones de Aniversario dentro del CMLL, 2001 en la Lucha en Jaula donde Satánico gana a Mascara Mágica, 2002 donde Tarzan Boy le gana la cabellera a Negro Casas y en el 2003 tiene su único revés en su carrera en luchas de apuestas pues Shocker lo derrota en una lucha de Cabelleras.

En el 2004 encabeza la función del Juicio Final en donde Perro Aguayo Jr. Se convierte en rudo preámbulo ala creación de los Perros del Mal Por esas fechas su paisano Héctor Garza regresa al CMLL y junto a el y Terrible forman la tercia de los Regios, coincidencia que los tres eran originarios de Monterrey, lograron obtener el Campeonato Mundial de Tríos del CMLL, tiempo después los Regios se unificaron con los Perros del Mal siendo ya un miembro de los Perros del Mal defendió esa causa de manera continua pero no firme pues Los Guerreros del Infierno reclamaban su regreso alas filas de ellos. En el 2005 tras varias discusiones y una guerra de grupos entre Los Guerreros del Infierno y los Perros del Mal regresa a los Guerreros y uniendo fuerza con ellos enfrenta de manera continua a su antiguo grupo tomando fuerte rivalidad con ex compañeros como Héctor Garza, Damián 666 y Mr. Águila, con estos dos últimos junto a Rey Bucanero se fueron a un duelo de Cabelleras ganado en la Arena México y regresando ala senda de la victoria de luchas de apuestas.

En el 2006 gana el Campeonato Mundial de Tercias del CMLL junto a Atlantis y Ultimo Guerrero ya siendo los Guerreros de la Atlántida, derrotaron a los Perros del Mal por dicho cetro. En ese mismo año pierden el cetro ante los Perros del Mal y en ese encuentro Tarzan Boy regresa a una de las etapas que lo a aquejado en toda su carrera que son las lesiones pues es lo que ha hecho de el un gladiador un tanto irregular por varias temporadas debido a este aspecto.

Fue parte de los Mexicanos que pertenecieron ala desaparecida WWF hoy WWE, junto a luchadores como Hijo del Santo, Pantera, Rey Bucanero, Mr. Águila, Apolo Dantes y Mascarita Sagrada por decir algunos de ellos. Ha viajado a varias partes del Mundo como Japón, Estados Unidos, Puerto Rico, Panamá y Toda la República Mexicana. Sus rivales mas encarnizados han sido Shocker, Vampiro Canadiense, Héctor Garza, Negro Casas, Atlantis y Satánico.

En junio del 2007 se anuncia que el personaje de Tarzan Boy cambia y desaparece para darle paso al de Toscano, hoy en día Toscano (otrora Tarzan Boy) es catalogado como miembro de los luchadores estelares del CMLL y que esta cimentado en una carrera estable y de super estelar.

En Diciembre del 2007 se sucita una polemica con Toscano en el cual el junto a Black Warrior apostarian sus cabelleras en la Arena Mexico en contra de Shocker y Rey Bucanero, lucha que tubo que ser modificada pues en funciones previas a esta Toscano dejo tiradas plazas por lo que el CMLL le puso un bloqueo laboral total y la lucha de apuestas fue cambiada de formato en donde Shocker & Hijo de Lizmark finalmente raparon a Black Warrior & Rey Bucanero. Toscano al verse trabado en todas las plazas de su labor en el ring se dedica a fortalezer su cuerpo y mejorar su imagen .

En Febrero se anuncia la creacion de lucha libre Azteca con la union de Tv Azteca y la IWRG, en donde entre los nombres de los nuevos elementos aparece Toscano presentandose un par de veces en la Arena Naucalpan junto a otros independientes como los Dinamita Jr, Dos Caras, Hijo de Anibal y demas, solo que en estas presentaciones reforzo al equipo tecnico de este elenco.... En Abril del 2008 CMLL le levanta el castigo a Toscano y regresa a sus presentaciones como estelar alas plazas del CMLL como principalmente en la Arena Coliseo o la Arena Mexico.

=== 2007/8 Suspension ===

Toscano was suspended from CMLL from December 2007 to April 2008. Toscano had missed shows leading up to his double hair match at Jucio Final in December, and CMLL responded by replacing him in the match (with [[Lizmark Jr.]]) and suspended Toscano without pay.

Toscano apologized for missing shows in the press and claimed to get no information about CMLL about his status. CMLL eventually brought him back in the spring of '08. Toscano quickly found himself in a feud with Heavy Metal, which resulted in the two facing off in a hair match as a make good for missing the December match. Toscano lost, and it had been rumored he was planned to back in December.

== Biography ==
Arturo Díaz Mendoza, Villano III, was born on [[March 23]], [[1950]] in [[Mexico City]] as the third oldest kid of the eight children that lucha libre legend [[Ray Mendoza]] had with his long time wife Guadalupe "Lupita" Mendoza.

Since they were little kids, their father had all the boys in the family participate in several sports, so they'd not be wasting their time doing nothing in the streets. Arturo was a good amateur wrestler, and in July of [[1962]], when he was only 12 years old, won a local amateur tournament in the under 27 kilos (60 pounds) division.

Following the steps of his father, and his two older brothers who already were wrestlers, he started training at the [[Arena Naucalpan]] gym with [[Felipe Ham Lee]] and his father. Mendoza did not want any of his sons to be wrestlers because he did not want them to be hurt all the time like he was, but ended up accepting it since they were living inside the business from a young age. However, one condition that he put on them is that he wanted them to finish a career of their choice, so they'd have something to do if they got injured or had to retire early. Arturo studied at the Escuela Superior de Educacion Fisica (Physical Education High School) where he got a P.E. degree, like his older brother José de Jesús ([[Villano I]]) had gotten a few years before.

One day, a wrestler no-showed an undercard spot at [[Arena Neza]] where he was hanging out and training, and the wrestlers at the locker room suggested Arturo to work as a replacement. He was not sure of it, because he was far from ready, but since everybody was cheering him on it, he did it. Using no mask, and the name Ray Rosas, he made his debut on that [[January 29]] of [[1970]]. He was green, but those who saw him labeled him as having so much class for somebody at his level.

From then on, he used several names like Pulpo Blanco (White Octopus), Mancha Roja (Red Stain), Búfalo Salvaje (Wild Buffalo - which was the name his two older brothers used in a tag team), but he the one he used the most during that era was Rokambole (which was the name his brother [[Villano V]] would use several years later during his rookie years).

In January of [[1973]] it was considered that he was ready to pick up the family name, so he switched to Villano III, debuting as such at Arena Naucalpan, which has been sort of a family base for years as that's the arena where each and every one of the five brothers got their seasoning and their first push. In [[1974]] he captured the Welterweight division titles of Mexico State and Naucalpan, getting his first, and definitely not last, taste of gold in the business.

As a rudo, V3 was considered to be a "natural" for the business and a good worker from the start. By 1975 he got his first big break in the business when his father and long time friends [[René Guajardo]] and [[Karloff Lagarde]], along with many other major stars, joined forces with promoter [[Francisco Flores|Francisco J. Flores]] and started the independent movement. One of the reasons why Mendoza left [[EMLL]] was that the new office (Lutteroth had stepped out and let his son [[Salvador Lutteroth Jr.|Salvador Jr.]], and nephew [[Paco Alonso]] run the office by themselves) was not very interested in pushing [[Villano I|Villanos I]] and [[Villano II|II]], and probably III had he been working for them more often. Still, Villano would go on and debut at [[Arena Coliseo]] on [[November 19]], [[1975]] and at [[Arena Mexico]] on [[March 2]], [[1976]], but he never had continuity in EMLL's major arenas.

In [[1975]], because he was very affordable and he was such a good worker, many of the smaller arenas of the [[UWA]] network used him as a headliner for many profitable shows where they'd build to mask vs. hair or mask matches with the local stars, who would lose to the new independent sensation. The most famous of his opponents were [[Memo Ventura]], [[La Cobra]], [[The Corzo Brothers]] and [[Lobo Rubio]], the later being his foe in a mask vs. hair opener at the big supershow at [[Plaza Mexico]] that was headlined by [[Mil Mascaras]] vs. [[Lou Thesz]] (and that tanked badly because of a huge rainstorm).

By the end of the year (December), his hard work (and why not, a bit of family connections) paid off and he became the initial [[UWA World Welterweight championship|UWA World Welterweight champion]] by defeating legendary welterweight [[Huracán Ramírez]] (and not [[Solar I]] like some title histories say). He feuded with Solar I around the belt on and off for two years until May of [[1977]], when he was beat for it by the young up-and-comer.

During these years, and until he became a bigger star later, his biggest archievent was taking the masks of [[Los Escorpiones]] ([[Raul Reyes]] -not the L.A. one- and [[Benny Romero]]), a famous team that worked not only in Mexico, but also in the USA and Puerto Rico. That night, [[August 13]] of [[1978]], his tag team partner was [[Bobby Lee]], the young and talented performer who months later became famous as [[El Santo]]'s final major singles opponent... and who ended up being a "what could have been" as his career was ended way short by injuries.

Even though he already had won several ones in the past, this was Villano's first major (realistically, semi-major) "lucha de apuestas" win.

Villano III teaming up with other young superworkers, such as [[Matematico]], was a thing you could often see in the main event of some of the small or mid-sized venues of the network of independent promoters in Mexico. This helped him build a reputation as one of the top workers in the country, at a time when in Mexico there was more and better wrestlers than at probably any point in lucha libre history.

He became a much bigger star in the early 80s, to be more exact, 1981. He had already been working at [[El Toreo]] for some time, often teaming with his father Ray Mendoza or his brothers Villanos I and II. While he worked as a rudo, he was a rudo that fans liked to cheer... even more so when he was teaming with his father, who due to his legendary status just would not get booed. But he really caught everybody's attention on [[March 1]], [[1981]], by defeating [[Fishman]] at [[El Toreo]] to win the [[UWA World Light Heavyweight Title]]. This win was a huge deal, because of several things.

First, the Light Heavyweight Title was the second most important title in the country. Second, it was "his father's title". During years and years, Mendoza had been the reigning [[NWA World Light Heavyweight championship|NWA World Light Heavyweight champ]] at [[Arena Mexico]], and while it was not the same belt, it symbolically had been continuing that tradition (and either way, Mendoza was a three time former UWA LHW champ). And last but not least, he had beaten a major star cleanly for it. Back then, Fishman was much higher than Villano III at the totem pole and was a highly regarded technical wrestler. Villano lost the title just four months later, on [[July 19]] at the same venue, but the point had been already made.

While during El Toreo's golden years Fishman was the eternal UWA World LHW champion or challenger, V3 would become the dominant face of the [[WWF World Light Heavyweight title]], born out of the association of [[LLI]] and the [[World Wrestling Federation]]. Due to the excellent matches around that title with people like [[Perro Aguayo]], [[Gran Hamada]], Villano III and Fishman himself, that title actually surpassed in importance its equivalent with the UWA name. During years (and realistically, almost until the death of the promotion), the belt was the centerpiece of most of the greatest matches ever seen in [[Naucalpan]], including bouts against Perro Aguayo ([[1983]]) and [[Brazo de Oro]] ([[1984]]) that were voted "Match of the year" by the magazines "[[Lucha Libre (magazine)|Lucha Libre]]" and "[[El Halcon (magazine)|El Halcon]]", respectively.

But let's get to what really was the turning point in Villano III's career. Ever since the Fishman win, after proving himself time after time to the fans, and with the public recognition of being the son of a legend who was living up to his father's standards (and many said, even surpassing them, in terms of work quality), he started getting cheered time after time.

The gameplan of bookers Francisco J. Flores and [[Carlos Maynez]] was simple, but worked like a charm. Villano was put in week after week against the hottest rudo trio at the time (and probably ever), Los Misioneros de la Muerte: [[El Signo]], [[Negro Navarro]] and [[El Texano]]. They would beat him up badly week after week, tearing up his mask and making him bleed. In fact, he got some of those ugly scars all over his body from those wild days, because to cause a more dramatic effect, in a technique he copied from his father, he would blade not only his forehead, but his arms and chin as well. He eventually got fed up with the Misioneros' treatment, and challenged the trio's leader, El Signo, to a hair vs. hair match.

On [[August 1]], [[1982]], he defeated Signo in front of a sold out crowd of 18,000 (apx.), and after the win, the babyface reaction he got was nothing short of deafening. Right after Signo's loss, El Texano, who was the youngest member of the team, challenged Villano and suffered the same face two weeks later, on August 15, though this time the match was at the nicer looking [[Palacio de los Deportes]] in [[Mexico City]]. It was reported in the magazines to be a classic, and the crowd was said to be very healthy, in the 15,000 range, even with a major Toreo show the same day with the return of [[Abdullah the Butcher]] to Mexico, teaming with Perro Aguayo against Ray Mendoza and [[Carlos Colón]] in what was pushed in the magazines as a sure-to-be bloody showdown.

That's right, the same company put out two major shows the same day and in the same market, and both were a success at the gate. Because business was so hot, major stars like Villano III, Perro Aguayo, Texano and attractions like Abdullah were able to drag a huge number of the same fans to both shows. This was far from being a weekly happening, but they often had "must see" matches at Palacio on Sunday, while having the usual loaded Toreo show (whose weekly average for normal shows would be around 11,000), and if the cards were special enough the fans would go to both venues because they could not afford missing either show.

Those two major wins were followed up with Villano III going to [[New Japan]] (back when this was considered a huge deal by the fans) to wrestle [[Tiger Mask]]. Actually, this was his second tour there. On [[September 3]] he challenged Tiger in Fukuoka for the [[WWF World Junior Heavyweight Title]], falling victim to the legendary Japanese flyer in only seven minutes. It was a hot match with very good action, though way too short. But they worked well together and some months later, in November, they had another match together at El Toreo. This one was longer and went three falls, but the result was the same.

Him coming back from a Japan tour sealed the deal, and he now "officially" was a tecnico. It also helped that he was put in a team with [[El Solitario]] and [[Anibal]] (two of the biggest masked stars ever in Mexico) as his partners or "godfathers", named "Los Tres Caballeros" (The Three Gentlemen) with the gimmick of being super hero scientific masters who never cheated and defeated their enemies with grace, class and technique. In [[1984]] there was a second version of this team with [[Dos Caras]] replacing El Solitario.

But now Villano III being a top tecnico meant that he was bound to feud with Perro Aguayo, the company's top singles light heavyweight rudo (and top overall rudo along with [[Canek]]). On [[March 20]], [[1983]], he captured the [[WWF World Light Heavyweight Title]] from Aguayo, building a bitter rivalry with the [[Zacatecas]] native. By August things had heated up so much that they had a three match series that did amazing business at the Naucalpan bullring. The 7th, Aguayo defeated V3 for the WWF LHW title. A week later, they faced in a super libre match, that ended up being a bloodfest. And the 21th, V3 defeated Aguayo in a mask vs. hair match.

In [[1984]] he continued on the same road, drawing greatly for title matches against a variety of opponents, to the point the promotion considered him the MVP in their year end awards.

Measuring who drew and who didn't at El Toreo is a very hard task. The promotion had access to a varied collection of native stars (both homemade stars and 60s and 70s legends who were still around) and foreign attractions ([[Tiger Mask]], [[Antonio Inoki|Inoki]], [[Andre the Giant|Andre]]...). They also had some of the fastest workers Mexico had ever seen until then, in people like [[Matematico]], [[Black Man]], [[Super Astro]] and other small guys who did things that had never been seen before and drew the "workrate" audience. The promotion could choose from, and I'm not exagerating here, a "pool" of 25 or 30 different wrestlers, put them in the main event, load up the rest of card and draw 10,000 to 12,000 easily.

For instance, there was shows that were so loaded, that the man who is considered to be the biggest star from those days, Canek, would be in the third match of a five match card, and Ray Mendoza would be in the opener. It's a very clear case of a "promotional package" being the draw, rather than "individuals". However, you could see how the true draws would be in special matches and up the attendance to 14,000 or more for title matches, and 17,000 or more for hair or mask matches. And when Aguayo and Villano were on top against each other, the attendance always was visibly up from the average.

The Aguayo-Villano feud carried on for most of the decade, and when at one point in 1988 they teamed together to feud and unmask the Black Power tag team (standard American rudo gimmick... one of them later was [[El Indomito]] a.k.a. [[Coco Amarillo]] from the AAA Payasos), it was a huge deal because the alliance was a true arch-rival dream team.

The other two biggest opponents for Villano in the 80s were [[Sangre Chicana]] and [[Rambo]].

José Luis Mendienta was a really talented second generation wrestler with a good look, who had a nice run with EMLL in the late 70s. Even though he was given the [[National Middleweight Title]] (who had a lot of tradition as El Santo's title) and given big profile title defenses against major stars like Anibal and [[Enrique Vera]], he seemed to lack the charisma needed to be a top star and draw. The company had sort of given up on him and he pretty much disappeared, returning back home and working only in his home state of [[Sonora]], and sometimes in Arizona or Texas, until his friend [[Kahoz]] (formerly Astro Rey, who had been repackaged as a rudo with a weird and unique white mask with black details and yellow or white hair sticking out) convinced him to get a new gimmick, with the promise of a spot in El Toreo. He became Rambo, named after you know what movie, wearing military clothes and wearing either a dark green or a camouflage mask. Mendieta and Kahoz teamed with [[Cuchillo]], and later [[Zandokan]] (who had a masked pirate gimmick), as "El Triangulo del Terror" (Triangle of Terror) and became one of the top old school rudo trios around the country. He eventually engaged in a feud with Villano over the masks, losing his' at El Toreo's "Lucha Libre birth" anniversary show on [[September 25]], [[1987]]. The match was heated, bloody, and got rave reviews as one of the best matches of the year.

Chicana was one of the 5 major stars at Arena Mexico and Arena Coliseo, and a wild brawling rudo along the lines of [[Cavernario Galindo]] and Perro Aguayo, though probably a better worker than either. He had even represented EMLL at shows at El Toreo, and teaming with [[Cien Caras]] or [[Satanico]], and gone over major stars like Aguayo, Fishman and Canek. So, added to the curiosity of two major stars clashing, you had a little interpromotional flair. On [[August 14]], [[1989]], Chicana defeated Villano for the WWF LHW title, but after and before that match, both had battled all over the country, having great brawls and drawing nice numbers, especially in the Northern Circuit ([[Monterrey]] and [[Nuevo Laredo]]) working for [[Carlos Elizondo]], as Chicana was a huge star there. The only thing that this feud lacked to be remembered as one of Villano's high career points was a mask vs. hair match, but Chicana was too busy losing his hair to Aguayo for bigger payoffs (since the matches, even though not as good, were bloodier and the rivalry seemed more natural).

The most remarkable feud he had during the last Toreo days was with [[Pegasus Kid]] ([[Chris Benoit]]) who is considered one of the best workers ever by practically everybody in the business. The masked Pegasus, now a WWE headliner with his real name, was a world nomad who would regularly work in Canada, Europe, Japan, the U.S. and Mexico. Benoit was put right away in a feud with Villano III, who he defeated on [[March 3]], [[1991]] at El Toreo for the WWF World Light Heavyweight Title.

Thinking that it was not likely he'd come back, Pegasus lost his mask to Villano III on [[November 3]], [[1991]]. But Benoit liked wrestling at El Toreo, and he caused such a good impression with the office that they called him back some months later (he had other commitments in Japan) so they could revive the feud. Other remarkable Toreo bouts during the rivalry were the [[January 19]], [[1992]] dream match where Villano teamed with [[El Hijo del Santo]] to defeat Pegasus and [[Negro Casas]], and Pegasus retaining the WWF belt a week later in the main event of the "17th Anniversary Show" of the promotion. By the end of it, the feud had turned into a trios feud, as Villanos would face Pegasus and his team partners Los Cowboys ([[Silver King]] and [[Texano]]). It basically culminated on [[September 13]], [[1992]] when Arturo gained back his WWF title.

Arturo was a top star and headliner at El Toreo until nearly its demise, but after Francisco Flores' death, booking and management got to bad that everybody who just stayed working there got lost in the shuffle: and that includes Dos Caras, Canek, Signo and Navarro (Texano was smart and/or lucky enough to get his career going in Japan teaming with Silver King). Some loyalists who were big (but not legendary) names and stayed until the end, never worked anywhere else at the same level again, like Enrique Vera. So Villano tried to keep his name fresh, working spot shows at Arena Mexico and Coliseo, and then jumping to [[AAA]] on January of [[1993]].

In AAA, Villano always worked main events and semi-main events, except in rare occasions (like [[Triplemania]], where even Santo Jr. was in the first half of the card), and feuded with Rambo, this time building to a hair vs. mask match that was hold at Mexico City's [[Gimnasio Juan de la Barrera]], on [[September 24]], [[1993]]. As a weird trivia data, the two first Villano III vs. Rambo "lucha de apuestas" (there was a third one on June [[2001]] in Naucalpan, this one hair vs. hair) were main eventing shows that commemorated the "anniversary of Lucha Libre", which is another way of saying "the birth of EMLL", but neither match was on EMLL and instead happened in the company's direct competitor at the time.

Soon after that match, Villano III quit because he was not happy with his push, and worked UWA again even though the place was a sinking ship and even drew a really sad 1,750 attendance for the January 1994 [[UWA]] Anniversary Show, headlined by Villanos 3 & 5 and [[Yamato]] (Tiger Chung Lee/Kim Duk) vs. Canek, [[Transformer]] (Kendo) and Gran Hamada, and with a rest of the card so uninteresting and not even worth of [[Arena Neza]] B-show status.

The promotion, however, started co-promoting with AAA and it revitalized business when they held matches like Villano and Canek vs. [[Konnan]] and Perro Aguayo (drawing 7,500 at El Toreo on May 94), and popped up business again at Arena Neza, getting regular attendances of 3,000 when the interpromotional concept was on.

But this relationship died off quickly, because the Toreo guys weren't "up to do business" (a few of the top wrestlers did not want to be jobbed out with "nothing in exchange" even though without the AAA guys, attendance would have been bad). So the Toreo promotion instead co-promoted with AAA's main rival, CMLL (formerly EMLL), that probably would be more open to "business", because they also needed the help. Villano worked a couple of shows for CMLL, but it was more of the same. UWA was practically dead and eventually ceased operations, not having a single show in January 95. Many of the guys jumped to CMLL, but as "CMLL guys" so to speak, not as "UWA guys". Others, like Villano III and his two younger brothers, jumped to AAA after a short stay in the ill-fated [[PROMELL]].

PROMELL was the first time ever where the three younger sons of Ray Mendoza became a regular team, because during the whole Toreo run (except for some special matches, mostly during the 92-94 bad period) the team was Villanos I & IV & V, while III was positionited higher on the cards as a singles wrestler. The three brothers had teamed up quite often at El Toreo during [[1994]], but Villano III most of the time still was slotted in the cards higher than his brothers were.

In AAA, the Villanos were positioned right into the main events, often teaming with Fishman as a symbolic "Team Toreo" (though never billed as such) against Santo, Konnan, Aguayo, and the other top main event tecnicos that Peña's promotion had to offer. They had a good run and some nice feuds and matches, but nothing like in the "glory days". During periods of time the team had no contiuity due to injuries, and that hurt them in the end, as they never really had the chance to have a stand-out feud during their AAA run. Their two major feuds were vs. [[Los Hermanos Dinamitas|Dinamitas]] and [[Los Payasos|Payasos]], and neither was impressive. And even though they were given the [[AAA Americas Trios titles]] (defeating the makeshift team of [[Heavy Metal]], [[Latin Lover]] and [[Cien Caras]] on [[March 8]], [[1996]] at [[Arena Neza]]), they left the promotion with the belts after having never defended them (even though they lated defended them in [[IWRG]]). They were also AAA Atomicos (eight men) champions with [[Pierroth Jr.]], with those belts suffering a similar fate.

On January 96, the three brothers jumped to [[Promo Azteca]] with the promise of more money and a spot for the two younger brothers in [[WCW]], but this was even worse. Though the whole promotion was a mess and there's not a lot of good to remember from it. When his brothers left for the US on July of [[1997]], Arturo kept basically wandering around Promo, and teamed with them when they were back home in between working for WCW. And again, he did nothing there, because the promotion only seemed to throw together eight guys in a match, with no rhyme or reason. Even though each and every one of those main eventers was either a draw or a great worker (and sometimes both), the matches did not draw and most of the time were as terrible and disorganized as lucha libre can get.

On July of [[1998]], Villano III joined CMLL. The month before that, he'd been on a long Japanese tour with [[FULL]], mostly working with CMLL talent. Villano's jump was something that back in the mid 80s nobody would have imagined, but since years had gone by, there was no major impact. He worked as a main event rudo as part of Pierroth's Boricuas stable, with [[Fuerza Guerrera]] and others.

In a major shock, Villano III unmasked [[Super Astro]] on a 1999 Christmas card at the [[Auditorio de Tijuana]]. The news was quite a surprise both because there had been no major build up for a match of such magnitude between two of the 80s biggest Toreo stars, and because the actual match was [[Fishman ]]and [[Lizmark]] vs. Villano III and Super Astro in "relevos suicidas", and everybody was sure Fishman would be the one losing, as it was common knowledge he was willing to drop the mask for a big paycheck.

During the Summer of [[1999]], Villano started his famous feud with [[Atlantis]]. The feud had been started around September of the previous year, but nothing happened at the time. There was a several months long build-up, featuring many matches around the [[CMLL World Light Heavyweight title]] that Atlantis had, and Villano eventually captured, as well as a hint of a mask vs. mask match on the company's 66th Anniversary Show on [[September 24]], [[1999]], where Atlantis and Villano III defeated [[Mr. Niebla]] and [[Shocker]] (with the latter finally dropping his mask).

They eventually faced each other on [[March 17]], [[2000]] at Arena Mexico in a classic máscara contra máscara bout that Atlantis won, revealing Villano III to be Arturo Díaz Mendoza. The bout, which was the feature match for CMLL's first PPV event, sold out Arena Mexico and won WON's Match of the Year honors. The match had incredible drama and heat, and super work and psychology, as well as one of the best major match finishes in recent lucha libre history, and it truly is one of the 10 biggest mask vs. mask matches ever in Mexico.

It's interesting to note that Villano III was originally thought to be losing his mask vs. [[Anibal]] in the late 80s, at the [[Monumental de Monterrey]] under Carlos Elizondo, but apparently, he was asking for a money sum out of this world, which reading between the lines tells us that he realized it was not the right time to lose the hood.

Villano III's unmasking revealed a facially old and beaten up man, who resembled his father during his latest run at El Toreo. After a series of TV skits, where Villano, still a rudo, thanked the fans and his father for all the great moments in his career, a turn could be seen coming a mile away. Pierroth then "fired him" from the Boricuas as, for weeks, Villano refused to get involved in massive post-match tecnico beatings, even though he did not help either. So Boricuas eventually turned on him, with the claims he'd turned "soft". So we had Arturo debuting as a tecnico on [[April 28]] teaming with none other than his two former nemesis, Atlantis and Perro Aguayo, against Pierroth, Shocker and [[Mascara Año 2000]].

This gave a new life to Arturo's career, and during the first months he had in fact came out as the major winner of the mask vs. mask match. Had a several months long feud with against Pierroth and Máscara 2000, teaming with Aguayo, and eventually taking out Jesús Reyes' hair in a cage match on [[August 4]].

By this point Villano still was a good worker, but his skills were diminishing quickly due to age and all the injuries he'd suffered due to working a highly demanding style during decades. The family also suffered a major blow when the older brother, José de Jesus, who worked as Villano I, died on [[January 4]], [[2001]], with the cause of death being a brain hemorrhage. This was the third major loss in the family, after the deaths of mother Lupita in [[1986]], and the [[1989]] death of brother José Alfredo (Villano II), which was publicized as being due wrestling injuries but during years has been rumoured to have been a suicide.

A few months after Ray Mendoza's death, The Villano family had a bitter departure from CMLL, citing their non existant push as the reason for it. During interviews, they claimed that they weren't even getting enough dates to sustain their families, so they became independent contractors. The brothers still work all over the Republic, even though they aren't such stars any longer, nor are they the superworkers they used to be, though the younger ones still are very competent wrestlers. Villano III can still work a good mat-based match, but due to age and injuries, he's lost his famous quickness and explosive timing.

Villano III, sadly, looks like somebody who is overstaying his welcome, and would have put on a classier end to a fantastic career should have retired after a year or year and a half-long tour as an unmasked babyface. At this point, unless he makes amends and returns to CMLL, he probably won't even have a major retirement party, should he retire any time soon.

== Biography ==
Sabu is a world-renowned professional wrestler who is known for his wreckless style of wrestling. Sabu has competed in every major wrestling organization in the world and is considered by many to be a true innovator of aerial offense, as well as being one of the first wrestlers to utilize a table during a match on a regular basis; Terry Funk even claims Sabu as "the greatest innovator of professional wrestling in the last 40 years" in the ''Forever Hardcore'' documentary in 2005.

== A broken arm, a severed fingertip and a partial scalping ==

On April 15, 2006 Sabu competed in a six-man tag match (alongside [[Damien 666]] and [[Hijo del Perro Aguayo]]) against [[L.A. Park]], [[Silver King]] and [[Pierroth]]. Sabu's team lost by disqualification, but the match left Sabu with a broken arm, part of a fingertip was severed and a partial scalping.

Despite the severity of the injuries, he still appeared at the TNA pay-per-view Lockdown on April 23, 2006. He competed in a cage match against Samoa Joe for the TNA X-Division title, and lost in barely 6 minutes.

This is certainly a testament towards Sabu's relentless determination to compete, no matter what condition he is in.

== Biography ==
Louie Spicolli, born Louis Mucciolo, started to train at age 17 as a birthday present from his family. He was trained by Bill Anderson, who would later be one of his team partners in the Mercenarios Americanos (Amercian Mercenaries) team.

Louie's debut was in early 1988 when he lost in a WWF TV taping in Duluth, Minnesota to veteran "Outlaw" Ron Bass. He'd mainly wrestle as a preliminary wrestler, or "TV jobber" for the WWF or Verne Gagne's AWA whenever they were in California, though with the years he became a regular WWF "TV wrestler" (meaning he was a regular preliminary in the federation's minor shows).

He also wrestled in lucha style cards in California and Tijuana as a "gringo" heel, as he was especially trained for that style. He had some success in Tijuana's WWA as he became a two times trios champion.

His first actual push in a TV based promotion was in 1990 when a lunatic promoter called Herb Abrams started out his UWF promotion based out of California. Spicolli, now nicknamed "Cutie Pie" still had the role of a preliminarist, but he got interview time, etc., so they probably had some plans for him, though this promotion went nowhere as Mr. Abrams was an awful promoter (for the record, he quit his own life a few years ago while he was under the effects of hard drugs, and after kidnapping a woman and destroying the furniture of his office).

He kept wrestling for the WWF and many indies, including the Arizona based IWF, where he was recognized as the first champion (he was awarded the title on December 15, 1992). He also wrestled as Killer Blond or Louie Spicolli whenever Triple A was in California promoting shows, and he impressed Konnan and Antonio Peña, so in 1994 he started to wrestle in Mexico as well. Now he had a new name, Madonna's Boyfriend, and he was a cocky, dancing American rudo. Spicolli wasn't all that big, but in Mexico he was like a giant and he was an asset to the memorable Gringos Locos stable. He had an appearance for the legendary AAA/IWC [[When Worlds Collide]] PPV. Following Art Barr's untimely death, there was no point in continuing the Los Gringos Loco stable and Spicolli (along with [[Eddie Guerrero]] and [[Konnan]]) left AAA.

Shortly thereafter he joined the WWF where he had a low-card wrestler role as the grunge boy Rad Radford and was involved in an angle with The Bodydonnas team of Skip and Sunny. He left the WWF and signed with ECW where he was used in a better way and had a feud with one of the promotion's top guys, Tommy Dreamer. In late 1997 he signed with WCW via his old friend Scott Hall and had a minor push as a nWo member and lackey of Hall. He was given more mic time than ever and he was even used as a commentator for some shows.

=== Death ===
Louie Spicolli was found dead on February 15, 1998 in his home of San Diego; he passed away only five days after his 27th birthday. The autopsy revealed a few days later that the cause of death was an accidental overdose of prescribed painkillers mixed with alcohol. Even though he was not a huge star, a death of this nature was still a shocking one in the world of wrestling, as WWE, WCW and ECW all payed homage to Spicolli before their weekly show. Spicolli's untimely death received a lot of attention by the media and fans. Other than becoming a professional wrestler, he always dreamed of becoming a wrestling booker, a Hollywood star, and a police officer.

== Career ==
Tajiri trained in traditional Japanese style and debuted in the early 1990s, wrestling primarily for the IWA Japan. In 1996, he left for an excursion to Mexico and learned the Lucha Libre style, quickly joining CMLL and competing (under a mask) as Aquarius. In 1997, he left CMLL and joined the hardcore wrestling promotion Big Japan Pro Wrestling in Tokyo, along with making appearances in BattlARTS. Tajiri also made a brief appearance in the WWF in 1997, losing to TAKA Michinoku (whom the WWF was pushing as its Light Heavyweight Champion at the time).

While wrestling in Mexico in late 1998, Tajiri was observed by Extreme Championship Wrestling owner Paul Heyman, who encouraged Tajiri to wrestle for ECW in the United States. He debuted in December 1998 by picking up a hard-fought and impressive victory over Antifaz Del Norte; the match was well received by the fans in attendance at the ECW Arena, who gave many standing ovations during the match. During his tenure in ECW, Tajiri engaged in long feuds with Super Crazy, Little Guido, and Jerry Lynn. In early 1999, Tajiri soon began to emulate his childhood hero, The Great Muta; he changed his conservative look completely by growing a full beard, utilizing mist and wrestling in a pair of baggy black pants. Tajiri turned heel in June 1999 by attacking then ECW World Heavyweight Champion Taz and aligning himself with Steve Corino, Rhino and Jack Victory. While associated with Corino, Tajiri won the ECW World Television Championship from Super Crazy in April 2000, but lost it a week later to Rhino. Tajiri later formed a tag team with Mikey Whipwreck known as The Unholy Alliance, who were managed by The Sinister Minister and won the ECW World Tag Team Championships in a one night tournament in August 2000. Tajiri remained in ECW until the company folded in January 2001. Tajiri participated in the final two shows on January 12th, where he picked up a victory over Super Crazy, and on January 13th, where he lost to Super Crazy in their final ECW match.

===World Wrestling Federation/World Wrestling Entertainment===
Soon after the closure of ECW, Tajiri was hired by the World Wrestling Federation; he debuted on the May 24th, 2001 edition of SmackDown! as a face and was given the gimmick of WWF Commissioner William Regal's assistant. After Regal turned heel by joining The Alliance, Tajiri feuded with him throughout late-2001. In the same time period, he began an on-screen relationship with Torrie Wilson and defeated Chris Kanyon for the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship. He lost the belt to Rhyno soon afterwards at Unforgiven in September. In 2002, the World Wrestling Federation was renamed World Wrestling Entertainment, and the roster was divided into two "brands": RAW and SmackDown!. Tajiri, along with Torrie Wilson, were drafted to SmackDown!. He turned heel by forcing Wilson to dress like a geisha against her will, with Wilson eventually abandoning him and joining forces with Tajiri's babyface rival, Maven. Later on Tajiri, as a special guest referee, would make his second face run by getting betrayed by Jamie Noble after Noble caught Tajiri touching his then girlfriend, then-heel, Nidia. Later, Tajiri turned heel again by turning on then-Cruiserweight Champion Rey Mysterio after a Cruiserweight championship match. Tajiri spat green mist in Rey's face after Rey defeated him. He would continue this heel run by spitting black mist in Nidia's eyes. (Nidia and Noble were both faces during this time.) Noble and Tajiri started a new brief feud after Noble made his second heel run by secretly turning on Nidia, because she was kayfabe blind. Tajiri won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship on two occasions in 2002 and 2003, and he formed a short-lived stable with Akio and Sakoda known as Kyo Dai'. Kyo Dai was originally supposed to have been played off as Japanese gangsters, but Tajiri refused this offer in fear that he might be hunted down by the real Japanese Yakuza if the gimmick was seen as an insult.

In 2004, following WrestleMania XX, Tajiri was drafted to RAW, where he turned face once again and feuded with Eric Bischoff and Jonathan Coachman. Coachman also often dispatched Garrison Cade to face Tajiri on his behalf in the ring. During this time, he formed a tag team with Rhyno. This team dissolved quietly after a failed attempt at winning the Tag Team Championship from La Résistance at Unforgiven 2004. On February 4th, 2005, Tajiri teamed with William Regal to defeat La Résistance for the World Tag Team Championship on an episode of RAW emanating from Japan. After successfully defending the titles against La Résistance on a number of occasions, Tajiri and Regal issued an open challenge to "any tag team in the world." On the following episode of RAW, they retained their titles in a match with the debuting Heart Throbs. Their reign ended on 1 May at Backlash 2005, when they were eliminated from a tag team turmoil match by La Résistance. Tajiri lost a three-way dance (that also featured Little Guido) to Super Crazy at ECW One Night Stand 2005 on June 12th. In late-2005, Tajiri formed a short-lived tag team with Eugene. In December 2005, Tajiri left WWE; with his contract expiring on December 12th, he decided he wanted to try to become a journalist and spend more time with his wife and family in Japan. His final televised WWE match was a loss to Gregory Helms on HEAT, at the conclusion of which he received a standing ovation. Tajiri left WWE on very good terms and competed at WWE's ECW One Night Stand 2006, teaming with Super Crazy to take on the Full Blooded Italians (F.B.I.) in a losing effort.

===Return to Japan===
Since parting ways with WWE, Tajiri has resurfaced full-scale in his homeland, competing primarily for HUSTLE and All-Japan Pro Wrestling as TAJIRI. In the sports-entertainment based HUSTLE promotion, he is aligned with the babyface HUSTLE Army, a group who defends the sport of professional wrestling against the Monster Army (led by Monster General and Monster K, who aim to destroy the sport). In All-Japan Pro Wrestling, TAJIRI has become a notable and crafty contender, and his first big match in the promotion was in a losing effort to the Great Muta at the inaugural '''Pro Wrestling Love in Ryogoku''' event on August 27th, 2006.

On February 17th, 2007, he began a feud with AJPW Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion Minoru Suzuki at the '''Pro Wrestling Love in Ryogoku, Vol. 2 event'''; following Suzuki's successful Triple Crown Championship defense against Satoshi Kojima, TAJIRI snuck into the ring from behind and sprayed green mist into Suzuki's eyes as he turned around, and TAJIRI declared his intentions to participate in the 2007 Champion's Carnival (which was held over a 5-day span in the Korakuen Hall). On March 26th, 2007, the Champion's Carnival began as TAJIRI fought Satoshi Kojima to a double count-out. On March 28th, 2007, TAJIRI lost to Toshiaki Kawada via disqualification, after assaulting the referee and spraying mist into his eyes. On March 29th, 2007, TAJIRI successfully defeated RO'Z, after spraying mist into his eyes and rolling him up in a school boy pin. On March 30th, 2007, TAJIRI defeated Minoru Suzuki via count out, as TAJIRI tied Suzuki's foot to the guard rail; following the match, TAJIRI taunted Suzuki over the microphone and then stole his belts. After orders from AJPW Director Masanobu Fuchi, TAJIRI returned the belts and was granted a title shot on April 30th, 2007 at the Pro Wrestling Love in Nagoya event. On April 22nd, 2007 (during the "Hold Out" tour), TAJIRI teamed with AKIRA to face Minoru Suzuki and MAZADA in tag team action; to prevent TAJIRI stealing his belts again, Suzuki came to the ring with paper belts he created to represent his championship belts. During the match, TAJIRI taunted Suzuki throughout the match and avoided contact, but TAJIRI and AKIRA picked up the victory when AKIRA put MAZADA away with a frog splash; at the conclusion of the match, Suzuki (after losing the match because he was tangled up in the Tarantula) chased TAJIRI around the Korakuen Hall, only for TAJIRI to jump the guard rail and steal the paper belts. TAJIRI unsuccessfully challenged Suzuki for the Triple Crown Championship on April 30th, 2007, as he was defeated by the sleeper.

On July 29th, 2007, TAJIRI returned to All Japan on the Pro Wrestling Love for Noto-Hanto show, defeating "brother" YASSHI in 4 seconds with an inside cradle. August 26, 2007, TAJIRI will return to All Japan Pro Wrestling to team with the Great Muta in tag team action, squaring off against Suwama and Scott Steiner at the Pro '''Wrestling Love in Ryogoku, Vol. 3''' event.
