The UWA World Welterweight Championship was vacant for unknown reasons in 1982. A tournament was held on May 1982 El Toreo shows.
First round matches are unknown. Blue Panther, Rudy Reyna, Enfermero Jr., Aristoteles & Robin were all announced for the tournament and did not advance. Brillante replaced one of them.
