Soberano Jr. is the most recent champion. He captured the championship on May 12, 2017 in Arena Mexico by defeating Rey Cometa. Soberano relinquished the championship on December 1, 2021 to challenge for the CMLL World Welterweight Championship. The championship is current vacant.

History of Championship

Jack O'Brien, Ciclon Veloz and Chato Cabral made claims on this championship in 1940, when it was in limbo after Bobby Arreola gave it up due to injury in 1939. Their reigns were considered non official, with the next official champion in 1941. (SuperLuchas
