Guerrero is most often used to refer to the state of Guerrero, located in the southern regions of Mexico.

Acapulco is historically a local hotbed for lucha. EMLL owned and operated Arena Coliseo Acapulco and ran weekly Wednesday night shows in the town until the early 2000s. There's also a local scene in Chilpancingo, which has traditionally hosted the last AAA TV taping of the year.

Guerrero in lucha libre also referees to many luchadors. Gori Guerrero and his family are known both in Mexico and the United States. Later, the unrelated Ultimo Guerrero became one of the top stars of CMLL. There are also lesser known luchadors using El Guerrero as part of their name.
