Notes
He grew up very poor. Before becoming a professional wrestler he practiced amateur wrestling, where he won a national sub-championship in amateur wrestling in 1964.
He was trained by Diablo Velazco and made his wrestling debut as Angel Blanco in November 1969 against Black Terror. However, he was inactive as a wrestler for a while and during that time, a new Angel Blanco appeared on the scene to great popularity. The new Angel Blanco was El Ranchero Vargas, who he had wrestled before. The promoters of Arena Coliseo asked him to change his name to avoid confusion.
He supposedly did well in smaller arenas, which lead to him getting matches in bigger arena's like Arena Coliseo and Arena Mexico. He had rivalries with As Charro, Mano Negra and Blue Demon. His battles with Blue Demon were very stiff with Demonio getting his vocal chords injured during one match of theirs. On June 30th, 1964, he teamed with Pantera Azul to capture the hairs of Martín Escobedo and Jose Escobedo, who later became América Salvaje. On July 16th, 1976, he captured the hair of El Nazi at Arena Mexico.
He had a fierce rivalry with Mano Negra, which resulted in a hair vs mask match that Demonio lost. According to an interview with Demonio, he had created a new Mongolian look with face paint for people to see when he unmasked. The idea backfired though as he looked so different than what was expected that the fans thought it wasn't the real Demonio Blanco, leading to backstage heat.
After the loss, he had tours in California, Texas and Japan. In 1978, he saw the movie, "Star Wars" and came up with a C3P0 gimmick named. Robot C3. He proposed that Mario Alcala become his partner as Robot R2, but Alcala had alcohol issues. They wrestled with the gimmick in countries like Japan and America (with 20th Century Fox even threatening him with a lawsuit for it). The gimmicks ended up going to Barba Negra and El Rebelde. Demonio then decided to retire due to right knee and vocal chord injuries.
He founded his own gymnasium called ,"Gimnasio Demonio Blanco" and his own arena called, Arena del Demonio Blanco in Puerto Vallarta. He then came back from retirement under the name of Fantomas. The gimmick was heavily based on the comic book character who was a magician. And true to the name, he often performed magic tricks in the ring. He continued his wrestling career until 1992 when he retired for good. He passed away on February 17th, 2021 at the age of 75.
